What do school counselors do?
Individual Counseling- The school counselor is available to all students to discuss academic, personal/social and career issues.
Small Group Counseling- Parent permission required. Group topic possibilities include: social skills, divorce/family issues, study/org. skills, death, anger management, conflict resolution, friendship, etc.
Classroom Guidance- School counselors visit each classroom every other week for 30 minute lessons. Lessons are created to meet the Virginia School Counseling Standards

How is a student referred to the school counselor? Students may be referred by parents, teachers, school administrators, agencies, or by students themselves.
